Botanical Actives
Kakadu Plum has been prized by Aboriginal people in Australia for centuries as an incredible superfood. Kakadu Plum has the highest level of Vitamin C of any fruit in the world, 75 times that of oranges. Natural antioxidants in the form of Vitamin C and polyphenols stimulate the synthesis of pro-collagen to help promote smoother, more supple skin and protection from free radicals.
Cacay Oil has three times the Vitamin A levels of Rosehip Oil and 50% more Vitamin C than Argan oil. Cacay is rich in linoleic acid, with Vitamin A for cell rejuvenation and E for elasticity as well as vitamins and essential fatty acids. Cacay provides long-lasting hydration, and protects the hydrolipidic outer layer of our skin from drying out. With anti-inflammatory properties, Cacay absorbs quickly, brightens skin tone, and may also lighten hyperpigmentation with consistent use. Excellent for reducing scars and healing blemishes.
Argan Oil is rich in Vitamin E, omega fatty acids, and linoleic acids for soothing skin nourishment and boasting an amazing host of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. A well-known skin active, Argan oil also helps to regulate sebum production which helps prevent breakouts, and its high concentration of Vitamin E can help fade scars and smooth skin texture.
Black Cumin Seed Oil / Nigella Sativa has been used for centuries to soothe troubled skin. With exceptionally high in antioxidants and excellent for mature skin and dry, irritated skin conditions, Black Cumin’s anti-inflammatory, skin hydrating and anti-aging effects have been scientifically proven.
Acai is an anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and anti-acne super-active with high antioxidant levels, protective and moisturizing fatty acids, and vital minerals and vitamins. Acai Berry Oil is rich in powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties to help soothe skin and limit moisture loss while its impressive combination of Omega 3, 6 and 9, make it deeply nourishing for dry skin and especially dry, irritated skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
Red Raspberry Seed Oil is packed with antioxidants Vitamins A and E which aid skin cell regeneration, and essential fatty acids to fight oxidative stress (with the highest concentration of alpha linoleic acid of any fruit seed oil). Red Raspberry helps inflammatory skin conditions like eczema, rosacea, and psoriasis.
Super soothing and gentle, Jojoba is anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and can aid in acne prevention. Jojoba Oil has many striking similarities to the sebum naturally produced by the skin, allowing it to penetrate at a deeper level. Deeply moisturizing and easily absorbed. Along with antioxidants, Jojoba is naturally high in Vitamins A, D and E and nutrients to create glowing skin. This gentle oil balances oily skin, soothes sensitive skin, and hydrates dry and aging skin.
Offering high levels of Vitamin A and C, Rosehip oil has anti-aging properties and can brighten and even skin tone due to antioxidants. With anti-inflammatory properties, Rosehip Oil has astringent properties helping to tighten skin and pores, and contains moisturizing nourishing fatty acids and vitamins A and C for a deeply nourishing effect on aging and dehydrated skin. It’s useful for dry, damaged, and irritated skin and helps to visibly reduce the appearance of wrinkles and uneven skin tone. Rosehip oil can also lighten or fade scars and blemishes.
Squalene is the skin’s main lipid, a built-in moisturizer, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant. Over time as natural levels decrease with age, Olive Squalene acts as a natural lubricant and moisture barrier to help prevent dry skin and keep it supple by preventing water loss.
A power-packed infusion of New Zealand native Kawakawa brings together the anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, antioxidant and antibacterial properties of Apricot Kernel Oil with the skin-soothing and nourishing properties of Kawakawa.
Antioxidant-rich Vitamin E fights free radicals and supports skin elasticity – it provides exceptional benefits when combined with Vitamin C (as it is here), and also acts as our natural preservative.
About Frankie Apothecary
What sets Frankie Apothecary apart?
Frankie Apothecary’s mission is to provide natural and effective skincare products, based on the principles of Māori Rongoā, to relieve the suffering caused by sensitive skin and eczema, and provide a healthy and natural alternative to mainstream skin care products.
In New Zealand, we are lucky to live among so many native plants that harbour many medicinal healing qualities. Every Frankie product is infused with healing native plants foraged for by hand using traditional techniques. This, along with zero unnecessary fillers like water, alcohols, nasty preservatives, or chemicals, is the reason why so many families have seen success with their dry and irritated skin.
Why are we so passionate about natural Frankie Apothecary products?
My interest in natural skincare began, oddly enough, with a visit to a fertility specialist. I was shocked to hear that many of the products I was using on my skin could be disrupting the delicate balance of hormones in my body. I started scouring online sites and magazines searching for natural alternatives without the added chemicals. I began replacing products laden with parabens and phthalates, among many other chemicals, with natural alternatives, many of which worked just as well if not better. Natural skincare has been a passion ever since.
After looking for a way to turn my passion into a lifestyle, I met Frankie Apothecary founder, Michele Wilson, and now feel blessed that Frankie has been passed to us to continue the journey she started.
Being of Maori descent (Ngati Porou), I love that Frankie Apothecary draws on the principles of Rongoa Maori (Maori herbal medicine) and shares the beauty of traditional healing with more people. It’s been one of several paths to reconnect with my heritage and has led me on a journey to grow my knowledge of Rongoa Maori.
How Frankie Apothecary began
Frankie Apothecary was created from a mother’s love when Frankie’s founder, Michele, created our famous Kawakawa Balm to care for her family who suffered from eczema and very sensitive skin. Her daughter Eva’s story was such a common one; itchy dry patches on her knees and back led to tears every night, as she would wake with blood on her sheets from scratching so much.
After years of doctor visits, allergy tests, eliminating foods, and trying every cream under the sun, Michele was desperate! Determined to bring her daughter some relief, she spent hundreds of hours researching what was working overseas – a process that finally led her back to her own heritage and to embrace Rongoa principles.
With the creation of Frankie’s amazing Kawakawa Balm, Eva’s dry, itchy, irritated skin cleared within a week. Skin flare-ups were then held at bay with regular applications of the Kawakawa Balm and regular Oat Bath Soaks. The Frankie Apothecary business grew organically from there, with many local parents requesting a pot and before long, word spread throughout New Zealand and beyond.
Our wish is to see every Mum experience the same results with their own children.
